Welcome to Trézor® Device Initialization

Setting up your Trézor® hardware wallet marks a crucial step toward digital asset security. This guide will help you understand the full onboarding process, from unboxing your device to safeguarding your recovery phrase. Each stage is carefully designed to ensure authenticity, privacy, and protection against unauthorized access.

Whether you are an experienced investor or new to crypto, Trézor.io/Start® serves as your official starting point. The process ensures every action you take is verified through a secure environment built by SatoshiLabs. Follow these steps carefully to complete your setup without any risks.

Step 1: Verify Original Packaging

Before connecting your Trézor® device, inspect the holographic seal and box integrity. The packaging should be free of tampering, tears, or adhesive inconsistencies. Always purchase your device directly from Trezor.io or an authorized reseller. Counterfeit hardware can compromise your digital security.

Step 2: Connect to Your Computer

Use the included USB cable to connect your Trézor® device to a computer or laptop. Once connected, visit https://trezor.io/start. You’ll be guided automatically through the firmware installation and verification process.

Ensure your browser displays the official SSL certificate: “🔒 https://trezor.io” — this confirms a legitimate and encrypted connection.

Step 3: Install Trézor Suite

Trézor Suite is your all-in-one management dashboard. It allows you to check balances, send and receive funds, and monitor portfolio performance. Download the Suite only from the official site to prevent phishing or malware attacks.

The application features an intuitive design, dark and light themes, and offline verification capabilities.

Step 4: Create a New Wallet

Once your device firmware is verified, choose “Create New Wallet.” Your Trézor® will generate a recovery seed—a series of 12, 18, or 24 unique words. These words are the only way to restore your funds if your device is lost or damaged.

Never take a photo, screenshot, or store the seed digitally. Write it down on paper and keep it in a secure location offline.

Step 5: Secure Your Recovery Phrase

Treat your recovery phrase as the master key to your digital vault. It grants full access to all crypto accounts stored on your device. Consider using a metal backup option for long-term durability against fire or water damage.

Step 6: Set a Strong PIN

During setup, you will be prompted to create a PIN. This numeric password prevents unauthorized users from accessing your device. Choose a code that is not easily guessed and avoid sequential patterns.

Step 7: Access Your Portfolio

After initialization, your device connects securely with Trézor Suite. You can now manage assets, check market trends, and perform transactions. The device ensures all confirmations occur physically on-screen, adding an extra layer of protection.

Step 8: Update Regularly

Trezor’s firmware updates contain essential security enhancements and compatibility improvements. Always check for updates within Trézor Suite to ensure your wallet remains protected against the latest threats.

Step 9: Best Practices & Maintenance

Keep your recovery phrase offline and private. Never enter it on a website, app, or shared platform. If you receive suspicious links or messages, report them to Trezor support immediately. Regular backups and firmware updates will maintain the integrity of your wallet.

Step 10: Troubleshooting

If your device doesn’t connect, try using a different USB port or cable. For persistent issues, reinstall Trézor Suite or consult the help section on the official website.
